About the Role:
The Senior Digital Designer (Web Experience Design) will lead the visual direction and design execution of high-profile client websites, taking projects from early mood boarding and concept development through to pixel-perfect delivery.
This role focuses on UI craft, motion, and visual storytelling, underpinned by a solid understanding of UX principles. You’ll translate strategy and brand into elegant, responsive, and accessible digital experiences that captivate audiences and inspire confidence in the Happydance brand.
You’ll work directly with clients to present design concepts, articulate rationale, and deliver visually stunning, high-performing websites that embody world-class quality
 
Key Responsibilities: 

• Lead Visual Design Delivery: Own the creative direction, visual identity, and interface design for client websites from concept to completion.
• Moodboarding & Concept Development: Develop design concepts, art direction, and style explorations that set the visual tone for projects.
• UI Design Excellence: Create refined, high-fidelity designs that balance creativity with usability — applying strong typography, colour, spacing, and composition.
• Interactive Storytelling: Integrate motion, micro-interactions, and transitions that enhance storytelling and user engagement.
• Prototyping: Use tools such as Figma, Protopie, or Framer to produce interactive prototypes that bring concepts to life.
• Client Collaboration: Present work confidently, lead design discussions, and guide clients through creative decisions with clarity and rationale.
• UX Integration: Apply core UX principles such as user journeys, layout hierarchy, and responsive behaviour to ensure intuitive design outcomes.
• Accessibility & Consistency: Ensure all designs meet WCAG 2.2 AA standards and align with Happydance’s design system best practices.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with developers, strategists, and content specialists to ensure visual integrity and technical feasibility through delivery.
• Continuous Improvement: Contribute to refining design processes, toolkits, and standards across the design team.

 
Required Skills & Experience: 

• Significant previous experience as a Senior Digital Designer, Senior UI Designer, or Senior Web Designer within a creative or digital agency environment.
• Proven ability to deliver visually outstanding, responsive web designs for large-scale or content-rich websites.
• Expert proficiency in Figma for design systems, prototyping, and component management.
• Strong visual design sensibility, typography, layout grids, composition, and colour application.
• Experience creating motion and interaction prototypes using tools like Protopie, Framer, or Principle.
• Understanding of UX best practices, including information hierarchy, responsive layout behaviour, and accessibility.
• Working knowledge of HTML/CSS principles to communicate effectively with developers.
• Excellent client-facing communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to balance creativity with precision and consistency under project deadlines.

Preferred Additional Skills: 

• Experience designing for enterprise CMS platforms or modular design systems.
• Knowledge of Webflow or other no-code prototyping tools.
• Experience building and maintaining design systems and reusable components.
• Experience in motion design tools such as After Effects
• Interest in AI-enhanced design tools and emerging design technologies.
• Experience contributing to brand evolution and design guidelines.
