Suncoast Aero Engines, established in 2001, is a leading provider of aircraft piston engine overhaul and repair services in Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific. The company specializes in overhauling Continental and Lycoming piston engines and offers in-house capabilities for repairing and overhauling propellers, magnetos, turbos, fuel systems, and related components. In May 2024, Suncoast Aero Engines and its sister company, Suncoast Air Parts, were acquired by Sigma Aerospace Group, further enhancing their service offerings in the aviation industry.
Who are we looking for?
We are currently looking for a highly experienced and disciplined Quality and Safety Manager to join our team in Caloundra, QLD. If you’re a proactive, flexible and experienced professional with a drive to succeed, you’re the type of person we would like to welcome onboard.
Your role
In this role, your key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring compliance with CASA, FAA, EASA, and other relevant aviation regulations.
- Leading internal audits, safety inspections, and risk assessments to uphold operational excellence.
- Managing and improving the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with AS9100/ISO 9001 standards.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, efficiency, and quality performance.
- Investigating non-conformities, incidents, and safety reports, implementing effective corrective actions.
- Leading and mentoring teams to foster a strong safety and quality culture within the organisation.
- Liaising with regulatory authorities, customers, and suppliers on quality and safety matters.
The essential requirements - Proven experience as a Quality & Safety Manager in aviation (MRO, manufacturing, or airline operations).
- Strong knowledge of aviation regulations, airworthiness standards, and risk management.
- Experience in internal and external audits, compliance monitoring, and root cause analysis.
- Ability to develop and implement safety management systems (SMS) and continuous improvement processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Certifications in Lead Auditor (ISO 9001/AS9100) and/or Safety Management Systems essential.
