Role Description
An opportunity is available for a trade-qualified Plant Mechanic / Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to support the Ground Support Equipment (GSE) maintenance operations at Brisbane Airport.
The role involves inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing faults and repairing a range of airport ground equipment in a fast-paced, safety-conscious and customer-focused environment. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong diagnostic and repair skills, work autonomously in the field, and contribute to a high-performing team.
You will:
- Inspect, maintain and repair a range of airport ground support equipment
- Diagnose mechanical faults and complete repairs to a high technical standard
- Carry out maintenance activities in accordance with established safety practices
- Work autonomously in the field while contributing to team performance
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and relevant stakeholders
- Support reliable equipment operation through quality maintenance and repairs

Essential RequirementsRequired Role Experience:Proven experience in a similar mechanical maintenance or repair role is required. Heavy vehicle or plant mechanic experience will be advantageous.
Maintenance Qualification / Licence:A recognised mechanical trade qualification or trade certificate is required.
Work Rights:Candidates must have full Australian working rights. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Location / Availability:The role is based at 9 Qantas Drive, Brisbane Airport, QLD. Candidates must be able to reliably commute to the site for the 0600 start. Relocation assistance is not available.
Additional Requirements:Candidates must be available for the day shift roster of 0600–1406 and be willing to undertake a casual/contingent engagement. Familiarity with ground support equipment and a current forklift licence will be advantageous.
Skills:Strong mechanical diagnostic, troubleshooting and repair capabilities. Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously in the field and contribute effectively within a team.
Attitude:Reliable, safety-conscious and technically capable, with a strong commitment to quality workmanship, customer service and safe work practices.
