The opportunity:
The Resort Operations Senior Officer – Waste Services is responsible for the daily collection and processing of solid waste, recycling and organic waste from the Hotham Village. There is a strong focus on environmental stewardship and ensuring practices maximise sustainability efforts.
- Support to the Resort Operations Co-Ordinator - Waste to undertake waste and recycling processing at Cobungra landfill and green waste processing facility.
- Support wider Resort Ops and Environment Teams with customer/stakeholder engagement to provide education, collaterals and undertake deliveries of consumables (bags) to stakeholders and visitors.
- Ensuring resort operations relating to waste management met agreed service levels and support sustainability initiatives.
- Undertake education of stakeholders and visitors regarding waste systems and management as required.
- Ensure all operations and maintenance of waste collection, processing and transport is operated in a safe manner and in accordance with organisational Occupational Health and Safety systems
- Contribute to a positive and safe workplace culture, by demonstrating respect, implementing and supporting safe work practices, and a focus on continuous improvement.
- Work closely and collaboratively with the Resort Operations team, the wider Mount Hotham Alpine Resort team, contractors and stakeholders to maintain service standards and manage waste concerns and processes.
This is an on-site seasonal role at Mount Hotham Alpine Resort where you will get to enjoy spectacular views and the unique alpine environment every day, including the challenges this brings.

Key Selection Criteria - Minimum 2 years operations experience including heavy plant and equipment operating and maintenance experience
- Forklift licence
- Heavy Rigid licence
- Experience driving in hazardous weather and alpine road conditions.
- Understanding of plant and equipment associated with waste and recycling collection
- Excellent customer service, and a respectful attitude to diversity to internal and external customers.
- Ability to work in a remote, often harsh alpine environment.
- Ability to undertake manual labour.
The successful candidate will be required to: - Have full Australian working rights.
- Currently hold or be willing to obtain a Victorian Working with Children Check – Employee type
- Have a current, unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence.
- Satisfactorily pass a police check and random drug & alcohol tests.
Location: Mount Hotham Alpine Resort, Victoria
Salary Range: $35.47 - $39.19 per hour, plus casual loading + superannuation
Contract Term: Casual, seasonal.
