REPORTS TO Principal
JOB GOAL
To monitor the medical needs of students and administer medications required for students; develop health care plans for students with health problems for the purpose of meeting the needs of students with chronic health problems and accommodation requirements; administer and/or coordinate screenings (e.g. vision, hearing, etc.) of students. To provide support for staff and students in the health and wellness curriculum.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ensures compliance with procedures, protocols, and other instructions provided by the District or Supervisor of Coordinated School Health
Maintains the school-based health clinic and telemedicine
Administers first aid and care to ill or injured students and staff as stipulated by District policies and procedures
Documents nursing interventions on computer software
Provides reports as required by Coordinated School Health
Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records on all students and records data on PowerSchool
Identifies students with chronic illnesses, conditions which could result in emergency care and those students who will self-administer and self-monitor medications and/or procedures while at school
Prepares Individual Health Care Plans on those students with chronic illness or that require self-administration and self-monitoring of medications and/or procedures while at school
Assumes responsibility for monitoring student immunizations as required by law
Assumes responsibility for ensuring completion of student and staff injury reports
Assumes responsibility for completion of faculty/staff workers’ comp documentation
Performs vision and hearing screening as needed with appropriate follow-up
Administers medication to students according to District policies and guidelines
Keeps principal informed of any health-related issues in the school community
Orders supplies for the clinic through the Coordinated School Health Office
Attends nursing in-service programs
Maintains capability of securing EMS support via 911
Assumes responsibility for professional growth
Performs any other duties as may be assigned by the principal and/or nursing supervisor

This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 20 lbs., with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows:
