About Us Tumu Timbers are a leading provider of Timber Packaging and Wholesale Timber products, known for our commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
Over the years, Tumu Timbers has supplied a range of pallet, bin, wooden packaging and timber products to a wide range of industries including apple and kiwifruit industries, produce growers, food processors, packaging companies, meat processors and the wine industry. Tumu’s also supply to a wide range of general industrial, domestic and export transportation, warehousing and logistics companies.
With a strong presence in the industry, we are looking for a dedicated National Sales Manager to join our senior leadership team and to help us maintain and grow our market position.
The Role As National Sales Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing and executing sales strategies to achieve our ambitious growth objectives, underpinned by an in depth knowledge of the internal supply chain and the manufacturing processes. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will focus on strengthening relationships with existing clients, identifying new market opportunities, and fostering a high-performing sales team.
Responsibilities will include;
- Proactively grow and maintain market share in the timber industry, both domestically and offshore.
- Develop and implement sales strategies (underpinned by KPIs) that align with production capabilities and customer needs.
- Lead and inspire the sales team to deliver exceptional results while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Build and maintain robust external customer relationships, aiming for ‘preferred supplier’ status.
- Build and maintain robust internal relationships with the production and planning teams to support successful DIFOT to external customers.
- Oversee robust internal sales systems covering leads, enquiry/quotes, CRM, costing, pricing, forecasts, and general sales operations to ensure financial and operational efficiency.
- Monitor market trends to identify opportunities for value-added solutions and competitive advantage.
About You The successful individual will need the credibility to lead and influence at all levels. A track-record of successful product selling and developed networks nationally would be highly advantageous.
You will be a great listener with the ability to communicate to a wide ranging audience. Your personal traits will include resilience, confidence when presenting, strong planning skills.
As an experienced intermediate to senior sales professional with a proven track-record achieving targeted results, you will lead from the front while quickly developing rapport, trust, and relationships with clients, and the Tumu team. Experience working with Timber manufacturing and/or selling to merchants would be advantageous.
We are looking for a motivated professional with the following qualifications, skills, and experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Sales, Marketing, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience as a Sales Representative or in a similar role.
- Proven ability in customer relationship management and key account management.
- Strong analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in timber or manufacturing industries.
- Knowledge of production / manufacturing systems and processes.
