We are seeking a Health and Safety Manager to drive high-impact initiatives in a dynamic, safety-sensitive construction environment. We’re partnering with a fast-growing, privately owned organisation operating across construction, civil, and property development sectors to find a high-impact Health and Safety Manager. This is a senior opportunity that blends strategic leadership with operational delivery across a diverse group of businesses.
You will be the go-to expert for Health, Safety and Emergency Management, working closely with the Executive Team to shape a high-performance safety culture and implement risk-led strategies that support growth and operational excellence.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you’ll provide leadership and expertise in health and safety and emergency management. This is an influential role responsible for owning the function, driving improvement and embedding health and safety into the DNA of a business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of the company’s H&S strategy and framework.
- Provide strategic advice and support to executives and senior leaders.
- Strengthen and grow organisational capability in H&S and emergency management across the business.
- Own the risk management approach and lead audits, reporting, and incident investigations.
- Develop and maintain quality management systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Drive measurable H&S performance and ensure compliance with NZ legislation.
What We’re Looking For - A senior Health and Safety leader with strong experience in safety-sensitive industries (i.e. construction, civil infrastructure, manufacturing etc).
- A strategic thinker who can navigate executive-level planning while staying grounded in frontline realities.
- Proven ability to engage, influence and support leadership teams.
- High-level communication, planning and organisational skills.
- Strong knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act and related standards.
