The Role
As Deputy Secretary – Policy & Insights, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and leading the Ministry’s policy and insights work across MPP and Government. Reporting directly to the Secretary for Pacific Peoples and a key member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), you will:
- Lead the Policy & Insights Directorate, setting strategic direction and driving the policy and data work programme
- Provide high-level, influential policy advice to Ministers and senior stakeholders across government
- Embed a strong data and evidence culture across the Ministry to ensure agile, measurable outcomes for Pacific peoples
- Champion Pacific knowledge and values in the public policy landscape
- Build and maintain trusted relationships across Pacific communities, Government agencies, and partner organisations
- Contribute strategic oversight to the Ministry through active participation in the leadership team.
About You
You’ll be a senior leader with a proven ability to lead people, strategy, and systems at scale. You will have significant experience in leading large and complex data and insights and / or policy functions, with a track record of delivering impactful outcomes.
Your understanding of government processes, combined with strong political acumen and senior-level public sector experience, will enable you to confidently navigate complex challenges and provide strategic advice.
Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management expertise will be key to influencing across the public sector and community spaces, working in partnership and maintaining trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Experience implementing AI will be an advantage.
