Our client is a global organisation with an established presence across Australia and New Zealand. The business is currently refreshing its strategy both globally and locally and is investing in elevating its Finance function.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Finance, this Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for the integrity of the general ledger and reporting cycle, with a focus on joint ventures and project accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and timely month-end close.
You will partner closely with Operations, Finance stakeholders, and external auditors to ensure compliant, transparent, and efficient financial operations, while contributing to process improvement and automation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting & Month-End
- Lead end-to-end month-end close processes
- Prepare and post complex journals across JVs, partnerships, and projects
- Conduct detailed variance analysis and trial balance reviews
- Manage intercompany balances
Financial & Group Reporting - Prepare monthly group reporting packs
- Produce statutory financial statements in accordance with AASB/IFRS
- Maintain integrity and accuracy of the general ledger
Budgeting & Forecasting - Independently run the budgeting process end-to-end
- Partner with stakeholders to prepare and manage forecasts
Balance Sheet & Controls - Prepare and review reconciliations for all material accounts
- Ensure strong internal controls and compliance
- Champion process improvements, automation, and BOT/AI-driven efficiencies
Systems & Continuous Improvement - Drive effective utilisation of SAP and BI reporting tools
- Identify and implement improvements across financial processes and reporting
About You
- 7–10 years’ experience in financial accounting
- Experience within an ASX-listed or global multinational environment
- Strong month-end, statutory reporting, and budgeting experience (must have run the process end-to-end)
- Construction or project accounting capability highly regarded
- SAP experience essential; strong Excel skills required
- Sound knowledge of AASB/IFRS, GST/BAS, and FBT
You are technically strong, detail-oriented, and confident in partnering with stakeholders. You bring curiosity, ambition, and a desire to step into a broader leadership role within the next 3–5 years.
