The North Australian Pastoral Company (NAPCo) was founded in 1877 and is one of Australia's leading beef cattle companies, managing over 6.1 million hectares, largest single herd in the world and home to Five Founders Beef. NAPCo employs approximately 220 staff operating across Queensland and the Northern Territory, with 15 cattle stations, a Depot in Mount Isa, a Feedlot and Farm in the Darling Downs and an office in Brisbane's CBD.
The team
Based in our Brisbane office, you'll take your expertise beyond the desk, travelling regularly to NAPCo stations across Queensland and the Northern Territory working alongside station crews delivery training to streamline and systemise data gathering across our day-to-day operations. You'll join our close-knit Natural Capital team of four, working collaboratively to strengthen the quality and value of livestock data across the business.
The role
The Livestock Data Coordinator supports the consistent and accurate collection, management and use of livestock data across NAPCo's grazing operations. Working closely with station managers, stock crews, corporate teams and technical providers, you will provide practical support and training for livestock data systems and equipment, improve data quality and help turn information into useful insights for livestock and operational decision-making.
Day to day duties include:
- Collaborate with operational and corporate stakeholders, building strong, cooperative working relationships across the business.
- Supporting stations with livestock data collection, systems, equipment and data quality.
- Deliver practical crush-side and remote training to station teams.
- Develop clear protocols, templates, guides and tools that make data collection easier, more accurate and consistent.
- Monitor data quality, identify gaps or inconsistencies and work with stations to implement practical solutions.
- Translate livestock data into reports, dashboards and other useful tools for operational decision-making.
- Coordinate the review and implementation of cattle drafting specifications across relevant systems and operations.
- Assess livestock software and equipment, coordinate purchasing and maintenance requirements, and liaise with technical providers.
- Support livestock data collection, systems and reporting for NAPCo's stud operations as required.
Ideally the successful candidate will have/be: - Strong communication skills, with the ability to quickly build rapport, maintain effective relationships and demonstrate professionalism with stakeholders at all levels.
- Professional conduct, ability to pivot and problem solve, resilience
- A relevant degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Sustainability, Environmental Science or a related field.
- Practical experience working on a cattle station, ideally as part of a stock crew.
- Experience with livestock data management systems and crush-side equipment; Gallagher Animal Performance experience is highly regarded.
- A practical understanding of cattle handling, livestock workflows and the beef supply chain.
- A solutions-focused, systems-thinking approach with strong attention to detail and sound problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work independently, manage changing priorities and organise regular travel to remote locations.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills; Power BI experience is highly regarded.
- A current manual driver's licence.
