Marion Downs Station, QLD
Spanning 1.2 million hectares in Queensland's Channel Country, Marion Downs Station is approximately four hours south of Mount Isa and one hour south of Boulia. The property's striking landscape ranges from expansive floodplains and open rolling downs to desert country, and includes Herbert Downs Outstation.
The role
If you're organised, friendly and ready to embrace the unique lifestyle of a remote cattle station, this could be the ideal role for you. Join the crew at Marion Downs Station in Queensland's Channel Country and enjoy a varied, hands-on Homestead Help position. From caring for the gardens and keeping the homestead welcoming to supporting the cook when required, you'll play an important part in everyday station life while keeping the homestead running smoothly.
Day to day duties include:
- Maintaining gardens, including mowing, whipper snipping, weeding, mulching and pruning around the homestead, living quarters and broader property
- Ensuring the living quarters, recreation room and amenities are clean and tidy
- Maintaining the overall presentation of the property
- Changing linen and cleaning guest quarters as required
- Supporting the station cook when required
- Collecting stores when required
- Adhoc duties as required.
Ideally the successful candidate will have/be: - A flexible and adaptable approach, with the ability to undertake varied station tasks
- Confidence working autonomously with limited direction and collaboratively with the broader station team
- Sound knowledge of gardening, cleaning, domestic functions and hygiene practices
- The ability to prioritise workloads
- Experience cooking for small groups, not essential
- An interest in the unique lifestyle offered by a remote cattle station
- A current manual driver's licence
