The North Australian Pastoral Company (NAPCo) was founded in 1877 and is one of Australia's leading beef cattle companies, managing over 6.1 million hectares, largest single herd in the world and home to Five Founders Beef. Castlevale Outstation
The Castlevale Outstation on Mantuan Downs Station is located between Springsure and Tambo in QLD. A large-scale cattle breeding and finishing property covering 134,000ha of land comprised of brigalow/wilga/ bottle tree scrub to open downs and soft forest hollows.
                                                                                                              
The role
Reporting to the Station Manager, the Overseer will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of Castlevale Outstation. This role supports the Mantuan Downs Station Manager and works closely with the Head Stockman and station crew to deliver the daily work program, manage property operations and contribute to ongoing property development.
  
Key responsibilities include:

• Overseeing the day-to-day operations of Castlevale Outstation
• Maintaining best practice animal husbandry standards and upholding NAPCo’s commitment to animal welfare
• Drafting large mobs of cattle into tight weight groups on arrival from western stations and prior to feedlot entry
• Supporting the Station Manager to develop operational plans and provide clear direction to team members
• Leading, training and developing station staff
• Prioritising workloads and setting clear expectations for daily tasks
• Promoting a safe work environment by embedding safe systems of work
• Ensuring infrastructure, property assets, machinery, vehicles and equipment are maintained to a high standard
• Maintaining accurate records, including stock movements, treatments, supplement issue and consumption
• Hosting contractors and visitors as required
• Contributing to an inclusive, positive team culture aligned with NAPCo’s values and standards

The ideal candidate will bring:

• A minimum of five years’ station experience, including at least two years in a leadership role
• Experience on a backgrounding property, highly regarded but not essential
• Strong practical experience in herd, pasture and water management
• Exposure to CAPEX projects and the delivery of property development plans
• Strong people leadership skills, clear communication and a genuine focus on safety and employee wellbeing
• The ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including positive involvement in the local community
• Intermediate computer skills, including Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook
• An MR or HR licence, or willingness to obtain one
• A current Category AB Weapons Licence, or the ability to obtain one
• Accurate record keeping and sound administration skills
• Good organisational skills and the ability to adapt priorities to meet deadlines
