About NAPCo
The North Australian Pastoral Company (NAPCo) was founded in 1877 and is one of Australia's leading beef cattle companies, managing over 6.1 million hectares, largest single herd in the world and home to Five Founders Beef. NAPCo employs approximately 220 staff operating across Queensland and the Northern Territory, with 15 cattle stations, a Depot in Mount Isa, a Feedlot and Farm in the Darling Downs and an office in Brisbane's CBD.
The role
This role is key for the sustainable management of our pastoral land. A hands-on role where you will contribute to innovation and development, supporting the adoption of new pastoral management technologies. Supported by a team on station, the Rangelands Officer will travel to and work across regional and remote NAPCo properties to:
- Work in collaboration with key operational staff and senior management in the design and implementation implementing our rangeland management systems
- Deliver annual reporting on land condition trends for every station
- Provide information to support decision-making
- Support the delivery of biodiversity conservation initiatives
- Support engagement and compliance with environmental policy
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for technology integration (OPTIONAL)
- Expand spatial data analysis to support Rangeland monitoring and environmental projects
Partnering with operational staff and our Natural Capital team, you will actively contribute to environmental programs that inform operational decision.
About You You will be passionate about sustainable agricultural production, be organised, self-motivated and able to work independently, combined with:

- Good communication skills with demonstrated ability building relationships with diverse, regionally based stakeholders
- A current manual Drivers Licence, with experience travelling in regional or remote areas
- Familiarity Experience and proficiency with GIS Software or similar (highly desirable)
- Demonstrated intermediate or above skills using Microsoft Office Suite (particularly excel)
- Qualifications in Agricultural Science/Environmental Science or similar specialty (desirable but not essential) or equivalent experience.
- Organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage priorities, coordinate activities on-ground and meet deadlines
- Familiarity with pasture measurement, land condition assessment, biodiversity monitoring or environmental data collection
- A minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role
Frequent travel throughout the year to our Stations is a key requirement of this position.
