The North Australian Pastoral Company (NAPCo) was founded in 1877 and is one of Australia's leading beef cattle companies, managing over 6.1 million hectares, largest single herd in the world and home to Five Founders Beef. NAPCo employs approximately 220 staff operating across Queensland and the Northern Territory, with 15 cattle stations, a Depot in Mount Isa, a Feedlot and Farm in the Darling Downs and an office in Brisbane's CBD.
About the Position
As the Financial Accountant, you will report to the Financial Controller joining our long-standing finance team in delivering accurate financial and management reporting for the NAPCo group. This position provides accurate processing of BAU activities whilst also working with the Transformation Partner developing and implementing process efficiencies for the business.
Day to day duties include, but are not limited to:
- Undertake and manage month end (end to end) accounting with minimal supervision
- General Ledger, Balance Sheet and intercompany reconciliations
- Maintain cattle inventory including the monthly reconciliation to livestock systems
- Reconcile commodity purchases and troubleshooting any issues arising from the interface with the feedlot system
- Manage accounts receivable
- Assist with internal and external audit as well as Taxation compliance including monthly preparation of BAS returns, Payment Times Reporting and FBT
- Management of the Fixed Asset Register and capital expenditure reporting
- Working closely with internal stakeholder in the annual budget and forecasts processes
- Working with the Transformation Partner to develop and implement process n and system efficiencies
About You The successful candidate will bring their passion for numbers and the agricultural industry coupled with an ability to foster and maintain relationships internally. Experience required to successfully deliver as NAPCo's new Financial Accountant include:
- A relevant University Degree (or similar) with a CPA or CA qualification
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a similar role, ideally within the agriculture or similar industry (however industry exp is not essential)
- Ideally experience in cattle inventory management systems or similar
- Attention to detail is a must
- Strong technical accounting competency including sound knowledge of accounting standards
- Demonstrated experience managing fixed asset registers and capital expenditure in a multi-entity environment
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in the Microsoft office suite
- Experience with Netsuite or similar ERP finance software ideal
