The North Australian Pastoral Company (NAPCo) was founded in 1877 and is one of Australia's leading beef cattle companies, managing over 6.1 million hectares, largest single herd in the world and home to Five Founders Beef. NAPCo employs approximately 220 staff operating across Queensland and the Northern Territory, with 15 cattle stations, a Depot in Mount Isa, a Feedlot and Farm in the Darling Downs and an office in Brisbane's CBD.
Soudan Station, NT
Soudan Station runs approx. 22,000 head of cattle and is home to NAPCo’s heifer hub. Located on the Barkly Highway, 1 hour west of Camooweal neighbouring NAPCo’s Alexandria and Gallipoli stations. These positions would also suit a working couple or grey nomads as a permanent position or till the end of the season.
The Role: Station Cook
As the Station Cook you will join our small collaborative team at the Soudan Station. You will need to be organised, friendly, and most importantly, a great cook that has a passion for cooking hearty and nutritious meals! Day to day duties include:
- Cooking tasty, nutritious, home-style meals for approx. 12-15 station employees and guests on occasion
- Menu planning and preparing the grocery list to order and maintain adequate supplies
- Ensuring the kitchen, dining, recreation rooms, BBQ area and food storage areas are kept clean and tidy
- Maintaining kitchen utensils and cooking equipment in good order
- Some general homestead help to assist with cleaning, guest rooms, bathrooms, Rec/BBQ area when required
- Duties maybe flexible for the right person.
The Role: Handyman / General hand We are looking for a station all-rounder! This is a varied role with duties spanning, handyman, general station maintenance, maintaining waters, machinery operations etc. scope of the role will depend on the applicants’ skills.
- Have previous experience undertaking general maintenance on property – building maintenance and maintenance of homestead
- Be mechanically minded with experience with general vehicle servicing and checks
- Have good welding skills
- Ideally have a MR/HR Licence or similar, but not essential
- Have experience operating machinery i.e. loader and bobcat
- Be able to flex across duties like fencing, checking waters, lick runs, and general maintenance tasks
- Be able to work in a team or on your own
- Comply with Health and Safety policies and procedure
