The North Australian Pastoral Company (NAPCo) was founded in 1877 and is one of Australia's leading beef cattle companies, managing over 6.1 million hectares and home of Australia's First Carbon Neutral Beef - Five Founders. NAPCo employs approximately 220 staff operating across Queensland and the Northern Territory, with 15 cattle stations, a Depot in Mount Isa, a Feedlot and Farm in the Darling Downs and an office in Brisbane's CBD.
 
The Role
The Financial Controller reports to and supports the CFO in overseeing NAPCo’s financial operations and is responsible for leading a team of approx five ensuring accuracy and compliance across the finance team. The Financial Controller is a strategic enabler for NAPCo’s finance function leading system transformation, process optimisation and ensures the day-to-day operations run smoothly.
 
This position will see you collaborating across the business, leading the finance team in delivering, but not limited to:

• Financial reporting and analysis – ensuring accurate monthly, quarterly and year end statutory reporting, ABS surveys etc and other reports as required by the management team
• Financial Accounting and Internal Controls – maintain robust internal controls ensuring compliance, operating company & property trust reconciliations, and inventory management
• Taxation, Insurance & Audit – manage BAS, FBT and income tax returns, annual insurance renewals, involvement in annual audit processes
• Capital management, Treasury management, Budgeting and Forecasting to support strategic decision making

A hands-on role working closely with their team ensuring the finance function operates effectively whilst identifying and leading process optimisation increasing efficiency.
 
Ideally the successful candidate will have/be:

• Relevant Degree in Accounting/Commerce and hold CA/CPA or equivalent
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position
• Proven experience in financial management and a working understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, taxation and regulation reporting requirements
• Advanced Microsoft office skills and ERP systems, ideally Netsuite
• Demonstrated leadership experience leading a local and geographically dispersed finance team
• Exceptional organisational and communication skills
• Process oriented with demonstrated experience in systems solutions projects
