New Product Development Technologist

The role
As an NPD Technologist, you will play a central role in turning innovative concepts into successful commercial products. You will support projects from initial idea through to launch, ensuring timelines, quality standards, and customer expectations are met at every stage. This role offers excellent cross-functional exposure, working closely with Procurement, Production, Quality, and culinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Drive product development projects from concept through to successful launch
• Manage project timelines and critical paths, ensuring key milestones are achieved
• Support cross-functional meetings, ensuring clear communication, ownership, and accountability
• Develop and maintain accurate product specifications, artwork approvals, and documentation
• Partner with Procurement and suppliers to source new ingredients and packaging solutions
• Work closely with Production and Quality to scale up formulations and optimise manufacturing processes
• Plan and execute factory trials, including sensory, stability, texture, and transit testing
• Collect and analyse trial data, providing clear insights and recommendations
• Coordinate validation activities such as shelf-life testing, sensory panels, nutritional submissions, and cooking instructions
• Ensure development areas and materials meet GMP, food safety, HACCP, and regulatory standards
• Troubleshoot production challenges and identify continuous improvement opportunities
• Support product costing activities and commercial decision-making
• Prepare and present products for internal and customer tastings
• Participate in customer visits, supplier meetings, and external presentations
• Deliver against agreed KPIs, ensuring on-time and successful product launches

About you

• Degree in Food Science or a related discipline, or a minimum of 2 years' experience in product development within the food industry
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
• Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail
• Confident building relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
• Passionate about food, innovation, and continuous improvement
• Full clean driving licence
