Technical Assistant
An award-winning food manufacturing company, known for its commitment to quality, innovation, and excellence, is seeking a Technical Assistant to join the Quality & Technical team on a Fixed Term Contract Basis. This role plays an important part in ensuring products meet the highest food safety, compliance, and customer standards.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm (One Saturday a month with time off in lieu)
Salary: €35'000- €40'000 DOE
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Quality & Safety: Support the implementation and maintenance of HACCP, food safety systems, SOPs, risk assessments, and quality management documentation.
• Specifications: Maintain up-to-date raw material and finished product specifications, ensuring accuracy and accessibility on customer portals.
• Supplier & Customer Relations: Communicate with suppliers regarding defects, log and monitor customer complaints, and support investigations into non-conformances including root cause analysis. Assist in supplier approvals for raw materials, packaging, and services.
• Sampling & Testing: Carry out microbiological and chemical sampling of raw materials and finished products in line with the sampling schedule. Perform traceability and mass balance exercises.
• Documentation & Audits: Maintain accurate quality and traceability records, ensure compliance with external standards (e.g., Bord Bia, BRCGS), and participate in internal, external, and customer audits, including GMP checks.
• Stock & Waste Control: Monitor stock rotation (FIFO), reduce waste, and ensure compliance with procedures.
• Health & Safety: Conduct regular site hygiene and health & safety inspections, report findings, and follow up on corrective actions.

About You:

• A third-level qualification in food science, quality management, or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in a technical or quality role within the food industry, ideally in fresh produce, is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of HACCP, BRCGS, food safety legislation, and customer specifications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong IT skills, with excellent attention to detail and organisation.
• Strong communicator, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a busy team.
