Senior Maintenance Technician – Food Manufacturing
 
Join one of Ireland’s leading manufacturers of high-quality food products as a Senior Maintenance Technician. You will serve as a subject matter expert in asset care and maintenance best practices, acting as a technical leader within the Maintenance Team. This hands-on role is critical to supporting equipment reliability, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and mentoring technicians and apprentices to ensure the highest standards of performance and compliance across the facility.
 
You’ll work closely with Maintenance Supervisors and the wider production team to ensure plant uptime, drive improvement projects, and help deliver a culture of safety, accountability, and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide rapid response and technical support during equipment breakdowns
• Monitor and improve machine reliability, escalating recurring issues and implementing corrective actions
• Lead and support line improvement and equipment optimisation projects in collaboration with production
• Participate in the commissioning and integration of new machinery
• Mentor, train, and support the development of junior technicians and operators
• Evaluate, update, and enhance preventive maintenance (PM) schedules
• Offer on-call support and attend site as needed during critical breakdowns or emergencies
• Provide holiday and sickness cover across shifts when required
• Take an active role in planning and delivering equipment and facility repairs in advance of audits or inspections
• Support spare parts management and engage in reducing redundant stock through stores collaboration
• Participate in Health & Safety compliance initiatives, risk assessments, and machine safety upgrades
• Document, implement, and train on best practices and SOPs for equipment use and maintenance
• Log all maintenance activity using the site’s Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Contribute to PM programme development and continuous improvement initiatives
• Engage in lean projects focused on process efficiency and equipment performance
• Support shutdown planning, overhauls, and capital projects
• Collaborate with the Health & Safety team on machine compliance, guarding, and operator training
• Influence and support a positive, proactive maintenance culture across all levels

Skills & Experience Required

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar maintenance technician role, ideally in food or FMCG manufacturing
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capabilities across mechanical and electrical systems
• Experience with thermoformers, bagging machines, multihead weighers, and cooking/freezing systems
• Proven ability to lead by example and coach others
• Previous involvement with contractor supervision and project delivery
