Maintenance Technician – Food Manufacturing
 
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Technician to join a high-performing engineering team within a fast-paced food production environment for one of Ireland's leading food manufacturers of high-quality products . This role is central to maintaining the performance, reliability, and safety of our equipment and facilities. The successful candidate will be hands-on, solutions-focused, and capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and ensure minimal production downtime
• Carry out preventative and condition-based maintenance across a range of machinery and systems
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults on high-speed production equipment
• Perform repairs and upgrades to pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated systems
• Support new installations and equipment commissioning in collaboration with suppliers and internal teams
• Maintain accurate records using a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS)
• Monitor and improve equipment performance, identifying areas for optimisation and waste reduction
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food safety standards at all times
• Provide guidance to less experienced technicians and apprentices as required
• Communicate effectively with colleagues across shifts to ensure continuity of work

 
About you:

• Trade-qualified in Electrical or Mechanical discipline (Electrician or Fitter)
• Minimum 3 years’ post-apprenticeship experience in a regulated manufacturing environment
• Proven capability in both electrical and mechanical fault-finding
• Strong understanding of preventative maintenance practices and continuous improvement principles
• Experience with PLC-controlled equipment is highly desirable
• Proficient in using digital systems for maintenance logging and reporting
• Committed to upholding high standards in safety, hygiene, and quality
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team
• Flexible, proactive, and results-driven approach
