We are seeking a highly experienced Organisational Development specialist to lead and embed enterprise-wide OD and change initiatives within a large, complex and purpose-driven organisation.
Reporting to the Executive Director, People, Culture & Transformation, this role is responsible for designing, implementing and embedding practical, evidence-based OD solutions that measurably improve culture, leadership capability, engagement and organisational effectiveness.
This is a role for a leader who is not only strategic, but deeply experienced in hands-on OD practice and execution.
About the role
As Director, Organisational Development & Change, you will lead the organisation’s OD and change agenda from diagnosis through to implementation and sustained adoption.
You will partner closely with the CEO, Executive Team and senior leaders to translate strategy into practical frameworks, programs and interventions that are embedded across the organisation, not left on paper.
Your remit includes organisational culture, employee engagement, leadership and capability development, talent and succession planning, performance frameworks, learning and development, and enterprise change delivery.
What you will do
- Lead the design, implementation and embedding of organisation-wide OD initiatives aligned to strategic priorities
- Translate organisational strategy into practical OD frameworks, tools and interventions that drive behavioural and cultural change
- Deliver end-to-end employee engagement programs, including diagnostics, surveys, action planning and sustained follow-through
- Design and implement leadership development and succession strategies, ensuring capability uplift is measurable and embedded
- Lead complex organisational change initiatives, including readiness assessments, impact analysis, communications and capability building
- Act as a trusted OD advisor to the CEO, Executive and senior leaders on organisational effectiveness and change
- Maintain and evolve performance management, learning and development and leadership capability systems
- Build and lead a high-performing OD team, shifting focus from transactional activity to strategic, value-adding delivery
- Ensure OD initiatives are supported by strong governance, evaluation and continuous improvement
- Manage budgets, resources and reporting for the OD & Change function
About you
You are a senior Organisational Development specialist first and foremost, with the credibility, experience and confidence to lead OD at enterprise scale and to personally guide implementation.
You will bring:
- Extensive, demonstrable experience leading Organisational Development functions or portfolios, not just HR generalist roles
- Deep expertise across culture, engagement, leadership development, organisational design, talent, succession and change
- A proven ability to design and implement OD initiatives end-to-end, from concept to embedded practice
- Strong change management capability, with experience supporting leaders and teams through complex transformation
- Experience operating in large, complex organisations where influence, governance and stakeholder management are critical
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level and board-facing material
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in Organisational Development, behavioural science, HR or change management
- Formal change management certification (e.g. PROSCI or PCI) highly regarded
Why join us?
- A rare opportunity to lead enterprise-level Organisation Development, not a diluted HR role
- Genuine scope to design and embed OD practice at scale
- Executive-level influence with strong sponsorship from senior leadership
- Purpose-driven organisation with meaningful community impact
- Competitive senior executive remuneration
