What’s the Role?
Methods specialist – Chilca Project
At Bradken, we are looking for a dynamic and committed Methods specialist (permanent full-time position) to support the operations at our Chilca Foundry.
As part of our team, you will play a key role in producing casting gating and risering designs, as well as pattern designs, using simulation software, 3D models, CAD drafting, and other advanced technical tools.
You will bring strong communication, organizational, and planning skills, along with problem-solving and management abilities. You will develop casting pattern designs, as well as related foundry manufacturing procedures and drawings, always seeking continuous improvement at every stage of the foundry process.
You will coordinate directly with the Technical Lead, with whom you will review methods, first article results, process improvements, and other activities. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the Pattern Specialist to monitor pattern development and inspections.
Safety will always be a top priority, and you will also provide support by offering technical information on foundry raw material requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide casting gating and risering designs, as well as pattern designs, using simulation software, 3D models, CAD drafting, and other advanced technical tools.
- Effectively utilize simulation software, calibrating boundary conditions by validating results on the foundry floor.
- Generate inspection drawings for pattern inspections, first article prototype inspections, and production run inspections. Produce inspection reports using 3D modeling and 3D scanning. Provide gauges and templates for pattern and casting inspections.
- Develop casting pattern designs and related foundry manufacturing procedures and manufacturing drawings, always seeking continuous improvement for every stage of the foundry process.
- Collaborate with the technical team to improve production efficiency and reduce waste by developing effective production methods.
- Maintain comprehensive drawing records, including cataloging drawings, drawing nomenclature, drawing revisions, and inspection drawing records.
- Develop and implement effective process control methodologies across the foundry to identify and address issues related to manufacturing efficiency by collecting, analyzing, and using relevant, accurate data to identify trends that impact production.
- Participate in continuous improvement groups according to strategic priorities of Bradken.
Our Ideal Candidate meet the following criteria: Qualifications: - Education: Qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial or Metallurgical).
- Experience: 3 years of experience with foundry simulation software, mechanical design software, and 3D modeling software. Experience working with foundry suppliers and raw materials.
- Industry Background: Previous experience in foundries or foundry suppliers is mandatory.
- Software and Digital Tools Management: Experience with foundry simulation software, as well as mechanical design and 3D modeling software.
- Language Skills: Basic-Intermediate or conversational proficiency in English.
Location: The role will be based in our Chilca Foundry, located in G74J+WH, Chilca 15870 (Transportation will be provided).
