Overview of the Assistant Underwriter

***This is a long-term temporary position with an opportunity to be hired on with good performance and other factors ***

• No insurance experience required, will hire individuals right out of school.

The Underwriting Assistant will evaluate risk for Workers' Compensation, Business owners', Commercial Auto, Professional Liability, and Umbrella policies for small businesses.

Responsibilities of the Assistant Underwriter

• Utilize company criteria and protocols to evaluate risk among many lines of business
• Perform independent verification of insured's operations
• Review and process change requests
• Participate in Underwriting Training for new products, directives and processes
• Participate in projects as assigned

Qualifications for the Assistant Underwriter

• Computer savvy and investigation/research abilities
• Associate degree required
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Analytical abilities
• Attention to detail
• Research skills
• Time-management

Schedule of the Assistant Underwriter

• M-F, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  Some flexibility on start/end time, at manager's discretion
• Hybrid schedule includes 2 days in office and 3 days at home.  Schedule Flips weekly
• Training would be 100% in person but then transition to a Hybrid work model. 

Compensation of the Assistant Underwriter

• $22/hr. DOE.
