With the buy-in at all levels of the Company, lead the EHS program at the assigned location.
Promote and foster the attitude that workplace health and safety is integral in everything we do and partner with plant management to promote the maintenance of a safe, accident free, and healthy workplace.
Champion corporate EHS policies, programs, and procedures.
In collaboration with management, help drive a strong safety culture where associates go beyond the call of duty to identify unsafe conditions and behaviors and intervene to correct them and where co-workers routinely look out for one another and point out unsafe actions and conditions to each other.
Serve as a technical resource and set the example for safe working techniques and demonstrate how to properly comply with company safety policies, guidelines and procedures.
Identify, design and implement creative programs, solutions, and communication tools.
Identify and contribute to continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs or increase productivity without reducing effectiveness.
Collaborate with plant management on accident prevention measures through review of conditions and behaviors and participate in designing improvements and solutions.
In conjunction with the management team, perform and assist with audits and inspections for compliance with company EHS policies and applicable regulations.
Design and present EHS training programs to associates addressing relevant safety and environmental issues in order to reduce injuries and illnesses and maintain compliance with environmental regulations.
Support facility managers and supervisors with accident response, investigation and root cause analysis and be part of any solutions and improvements.
Assist with the return to work program supporting efforts to get associates back on their feet and working at full capacity, including providing necessary follow up and through put to ensure prompt processing of worker compensations claims. Assist in coordination and transport of team member medical treatments.
Ensure team members have access to, have been property trained on and use appropriate safety equipment.
In partnership with plant management, draft, revise and maintain facility specific procedures for safe work practices and equipment operation.
Attend shift safety meetings and participate in presentations and present training topics.
Complete EHS reporting.
Perform storm water monitoring and sampling for assigned facilities.
Maintain EHS related documents/permits on site, in accordance with company procedures.
Maintain an open and candid working relationship with immediate supervisor/manager in discussing matters of importance.
Adhere to established company values, practices, policies and procedures at all times. Follow and support compliance with all applicable safety rules, laws, regulations, and standards. Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance at the assigned work location. May be required to work irregular shifts and be on call.
SWPP and HAZWOPER preferred
Minimum Experience, Education, and Certifications An individual qualified for this job must have and maintain the following qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety Management, or related field ; at least three (3) years’ experience implementing health and safety initiatives in a manufacturing facility; or any satisfactory combination of education and experience demonstrating your ability to drive a strong safety culture.
Valid drivers’ license and good driving record required.
