About the job: Title: Database Architect Position Type: Full Time Location: Iselin, New Jersey Job duties include the following:
Executing on services delivery and technology roadmap defined by the Database and Cloud Practice Division, ensuring alignment with corporate technology strategies for performance, security, reliability, scalability and cost efficiency (20% of time)
Providing subject matter expertise on database maintenance, patching, upgrades, cloning, backup/recovery (RMAN), capacity planning, and troubleshooting for Oracle databases (8i-23ai, RAC, Data Guard, ASM, Exadata) and ERP systems (Oracle E-Business Suite lli/R12, Fusion) (10% of time)
Leading cross-platform cross-version migrations and upgrades including but not limited to Solaris/HP-UX to Linux, Oracle to PostgreSQL/MySQL/Aurora, and on-premises to cloud migrations (OCI, AWS, Azure, GCP) (20% of time)
Architecting, implementing, and optimizing high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including replication, load balancing, failover clustering, and multiregional business continuity (10% of time)
Performing advanced performance tuning at the storage, IO, SQL/query, parameter and network layers using Oracle AWR/ASH, OEM, and anomaly detection methods (5% of time)
Designing and developing automation frameworks using PERL, Shell, Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins and Gitlab to streamline patching, compliance, provisioning and database lifecycle management (5% of time)
Utilizing and evaluating marketplace tools for database migration (AWS SCT/DMS, Azure OMS, OCI marketplace tools, Tessell, etc.), conducting feasibility studies, and providing recommendations for adoption in enterprise projects (5% of time)
Employing agentic and generative AI technologies to build accelerators that aid in database maintenance, migration, and modernization, reducing manual effort, improving speed, and enhancing accuracy in enterprise delivery (5% of time)
Serving as escalation point for complex issues including providing incident management, RCA documentation, and ensuring resolution of high-priority problems in line with ITIL standards (5% of time)
Documenting SOPs, change management runbooks, and project delivery guides for patching, upgrades, migrations and monitoring to maintain consistency across environments (5% of time)
Conducting audits, compliance assessments, and architecture reviews of customer environments, recommending remediation for SOX, HIPAA, PCI DSS, and GDPR requirements (5% of time)
Partnering with Sales and Service Delivery Managers to propose enhancements, designing solutions for large-scale implementation, and leading modernization workshops for clients (5% of time)
Requirements:
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus five (5) years of experience in any occupation which includes the required experience/skills.
Experience must include:
5 years of experience with Oracle Database and E-Business Suite administration
5 years of experience with Database Architecture & Solution Design
5 years of experience with Database Migrations & Modernizations
5 years of experience with Automation & DevOps for Databases
5 years of experience with High Availability & Disaster Recovery
