Job Title – Production Manager
Site location – Colwyn Bay
Responsible to – Site Manager
Purpose of the role – To ensure the efficient, cost-effective, and timely production of our client’s products. Overseeing the full manufacturing process, managing personnel and maintaining production schedules. Ensuring that manufacturing operations meet quality standards, adhere to safety regulations, and stay within budget. Troubleshooting and resolving any issues that may arise on the production floor, while continuously looking for ways to optimize processes, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity.         
 
KEY INFORMATION     
 
Reason for vacancy – Current Manager is retiring
Contract – Permanent
Salary - £50,000-£55,000 per annum depending on experience     
Hours – Monday to Thursday 8am or 9am start – 4.30pm or 5.30pm finish, Fridays 8am or 9am start – 12pm or 1pm finish (depending on site requirements and candidate preference)
Holidays – 25 + bank holidays

RESPONSIBILITIES     
 
The role - Our client is looking for a Production Manager to join their existing team in their HQ facility in Colwyn Bay. As Production Manager the duties are varied and not limited to –
 

• Manage the production team, performance reviews, recruitment, and disciplinary actions.
• Ensure quality standards are met and implement strategies to reduce defects and rework.
• Manage variable costs, labour utilisation, and productivity to achieve cost targets.
• Create reports detailing performance metrics related to production output, cost savings initiatives, etc.
• Maintain consistent production levels.
• Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee skills and failures.
• Performance management of team, ensuring company values are embedded, accountability is understood and continually promoting a safety first culture
• Drive 6S implementation and utilise lean tools to improve operational efficiency.
• Work with engineering and quality departments to support new product introductions, operational improvements, and problem-solving.

 
KEY SKILLS REQUIRED 
 

• Experience working in a similar role
• Experience working in an engineering manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of Continuous Improvement/Lean tools and techniques.
• Experience in delivering Health and Safety initiatives ideally with IOSH Managing Safely qualifications
• Relevant manufacturing training or mechanical engineering education HND/HNC (desirable but not essential) .
• Strong people management skills, able to motivate and influence
