LEAD INFORMATION     

Job Title – Quality Manager
Site location – Colwyn Bay
Responsible to – Site Manager
Purpose of the role – To ensure our clients products meet the required standards of quality, reliability, and safety. Responsible for developing and implementing quality control systems, conducting inspections and tests, and analyzing data to identify potential areas for improvement in manufacturing processes. Working closely with the production team to help prevent defects, minimize waste, and ensure that products adhere to both customer specifications and regulatory requirements. Also contributing to continuous improvement efforts by recommending process adjustments, supporting root cause analysis for quality issues, and fostering a culture of quality throughout the organisation.  

KEY INFORMATION  
   
Contract – Permanent
Salary - £50,000-£55,000 per annum depending on experience     
Hours – Monday to Thursday 8am or 9am start – 4.30pm or 5.30pm finish, Fridays 8am or 9am start – 12pm or 1pm finish (depending on site requirements and candidate preference)
Holidays – 25 + bank holidays

RESPONSIBILITIES     

The role - Our client is looking for a Quality Manager to join their existing team in their HQ facility in Colwyn Bay. As Quality Manager the duties are varied and not limited to –

• Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems (QMS) to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits of manufacturing processes to ensure adherence to quality specifications.
• Perform root cause analysis and provide corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for any identified product defects or process inefficiencies.
• Collaborate with production, design, and engineering teams to troubleshoot quality issues and recommend process improvements.
• Analyze data from inspections, testing, and customer feedback to identify trends and areas for continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support quality control processes.
• Lead or participate in quality audits (internal and external) and regulatory inspections, ensuring compliance with applicable standards (e.g., ISO 9001, TS16949).
• Support the validation and qualification of new products, processes, and equipment.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to product quality and implement corrective actions when performance targets are not met.
• Conduct training for staff on quality standards, inspection techniques, and process improvements.
• Ensure proper documentation and traceability of all quality control activities and product specifications.
• Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) and work with suppliers and internal teams to address and resolve issues.
• Assist in the development and testing of new materials, products, and manufacturing methods.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement by utilizing lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or other quality management methodologies.

• Quality Management Systems (QMS): Proficiency in designing, implementing, and maintaining QMS (e.g., ISO 9001, TS16949) to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Root Cause Analysis: Strong problem-solving abilities to identify the root causes of quality issues and develop effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Statistical Process Control (SPC): Knowledge of statistical tools and techniques for monitoring and controlling manufacturing processes to ensure consistent quality (e.g., control charts, process capability analysis).
• Inspection & Testing: Experience with various inspection techniques (e.g., visual, dimensional, functional) and testing methods to verify product quality.
• Data Analysis: Ability to analyze quality data, interpret results, and make data-driven decisions to improve product and process quality.
• Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma: Understanding of continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to reduce waste, enhance efficiency, and improve product quality.
• Risk Management: Skills in identifying potential risks in production processes and mitigating them through proactive planning and process improvements.
• Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting: Strong analytical skills to quickly identify issues, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production or quality-related problems.
• Documentation & Reporting: Ability to maintain detailed records and reports on quality control activities, inspections, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
• Supplier Quality Management: Experience working with suppliers to ensure that raw materials and components meet quality standards and resolve any issues with supply chain quality.
• Auditing & Compliance: Knowledge of audit processes, both internal and external, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
