Job Title – Class 1 HGV Shunter Driver
Site location – St Helens
Responsible to – Operations Manager  
Purpose of the role - Our client in St Helens is currently recruiting for a Class 1 HGV Shunter Driver to join their established team on full time permanent contract.
Client brief - Our client is a large well renowned family-owned business in Manufacturing products based in St Helens and supply the retail trade and builders merchants across the UK.
 
KEY INFORMATION Reason for vacancy – Increased demand
Contract – Permanent
Hourly Rate - £15ph+ (negotiable depending on experience)
Shifts – Monday to Friday days only, 8am-5.30pm
Holidays – 28 days inc bank holidays
Facilities – All required facilities on site, very clean and tidy office environment, kitchen/canteen, vending machines, free parking
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
 
The role – Our client owns 3 sites within a 2-mile radius of the site this role is based out of (production facility). They are currently hiring for a Class 1 HGV Shunter Driver who holds a Counterbalance FLT Truck license on permanent contract to run the site-to-site stock rotation of finished goods and of materials required for the production process. The responsibilities of this position are varied and not limited to -

• Operating Class 1 HGV’s around site and the other employer sites within 2 mile radius of the site this role is based out of.
• Operation Counterbalance FLT Truck, loading and unloading trailers where necessary, each site has their own CB Operators, this is for overflow work only relating to the drops at the employers sites.
• Ensuring correct loads.
• Ensuring safe loads.
• Using hand scanners to check goods in and out.
• Supporting on stock takes where necessary.
• Shunting trailers in a warehouse environment.

• HGV class 1 driving experience.
• Counterbalance FLT Truck license holder (in date or expired).
• CPC & Tacho card holder.
• H&S conscious at all times.
• Previous experience operating hand scanners is highly advantageous but not essential as training provided.
