Job Summary:
The Finance and Accounting Officer is responsible for supporting financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with compliance with financial regulations and internal policies. This role provides support in budgeting, financial reporting, and daily operational financial tasks.
About the role:
- Assist in preparing and maintaining financial statements, reports, and records.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and reconciliation.
- Assist in budget preparation, financial forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with Australian tax regulations, including GST, BAS, and corporate tax filings.
- Assist with month-end closing responsibilities for the preparation of monthly management reporting.
- Reconciliation of general ledger, petty cash, receipts, allowance, and credit cards.
- Monitor cash flow, banking transactions, and account reconciliations.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation.
- Maintain and improve financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to management to support decision-making.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure alignment on financial matters.
- Review, propose, and implement internal processes for efficiencies and automation.
About You: - Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent data analytical skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to assess the risks for clients before decision making.
- Demonstrated ability to provide feedback, share knowledge, and provide support.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to consult with peers.
- Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.
- Experience in financial data entry and reconciliations.
- Understanding of financial modelling and analysis.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements in the Australian industry.
- Effective communication skills for financial reporting and presentations.
You’ll need: - Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting or finance support roles.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, Australian financial reporting standards (AASB), and tax regulations.
- Highly Experience in accounting software Xero Practice Management System and Microsoft 365 office.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
- Excellent IT Skills
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CA, ACCA, CMA) or currently studying, is a plus but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
