Site Engineer - Civil Works

Salary: $140,000 - $160,000 + allowances depending on experience

With a strong and growing project pipeline, we are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to play a key role on our Lismore Civil Works package, part of the Richmond River High Campus redevelopment.
 
The Project
G&H Civil has been awarded the full civil works package, including piling, for the Richmond River High Campus project in Lismore. This is a technically diverse and highly visible project involving:

• Bulk earthworks and excavation
• Drainage
• Roadworks
• Piling
• Landscaping
• In-ground services and drainage
• Concrete works and civil structures

This role offers genuine ownership, responsibility, and influence over delivery outcomes.
 
About the Role
 
As a Site Engineer, you will play a key role in the day-to-day delivery of site works, supporting the Senior Project Engineer and Project Manager across planning, coordination, and execution of civil activities. You'll work closely with the Site Supervisor, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification.
 
This is a site-based DIDO role, well suited to someone who enjoys being on the ground, learning from experienced engineers, solving problems as they arise, and building strong delivery capability on complex civil projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, sequencing, and coordination of daily civil and piling activities on site
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and deliveries in line with the construction program
• Support the implementation and maintenance of project QA systems, inspections, and documentation
• Conduct QA inspection and compile QA and as-constructed records as per the approved ITP's
• Assist with cost tracking, variations, and productivity reporting
• Prepare site records, progress updates, and reports to support project controls and forecasting
• Ensure site works comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards
• Assist in resolving technical and construction issues in collaboration with the project team
• Identify opportunities to improve buildability, efficiency, and cost outcomes while maintaining safety and qualit 

Skills & Experience

• Relevant civil construction experience with exposure to site-based delivery
• Familiarity with piling, earthworks, services, and concrete works (experience in one or more areas desirable)
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to escalate and collaborate on technical issues
• Clear and professional communication skills, able to work effectively with supervisors, subcontractors, and consultants
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project programs
• Developing commercial awareness with an understanding of cost control and productivity
• Well organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a site environment
• Strong focus on safety, quality, and environmental compliance
• Willingness to learn, take direction, and grow within a project team
• Full Australian working rights

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent experience)
• Current driver's licence and own vehicle
• Experience in civil construction projects (essential for this role)
