Senior Project Engineer - Civil Works

Salary: $150,000 - $180,000 + allowances depending on experience

With a strong and growing project pipeline, we are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to play a key role on our Lismore Civil Works package, part of the Richmond River High Campus redevelopment.
 
The Project
G&H Civil has been awarded the full civil works package, including piling, for the Richmond River High Campus project in Lismore. This is a technically diverse and highly visible project involving:

• Bulk earthworks and excavation
• Drainage
• Roadworks
• Piling
• Landscaping
• In-ground services and drainage
• Concrete works and civil structures

This role offers genuine ownership, responsibility, and influence over delivery outcomes.
 
About the Role
As Senior Project Engineer, you will take a hands-on leadership role in the planning and delivery of site works, working closely with the Project Manager, Site Supervisor, Site Engineers, subcontractors, and consultants.
 
This is a site-based DIDO role, ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the work, solving problems in real time, and driving outcomes on complex civil projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead planning, sequencing, and coordination of civil and piling works
• Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and procurement activities
• Provide guidance and leadership to a QA engineer
• Oversee QA systems, inspections, and documentation and guide
• Monitor program performance and identify risks and opportunities
• Track costs, variations, and production against budget
• Support the Project Manager with reporting and forecasting
• Ensure all works comply with safety, environmental, and quality requirements
• Resolve technical and construction issues efficiently
• Drive productivity, buildability, and value-engineering outcomes

 
Skills & Experience

• Strong civil construction background with site delivery experience
• Confident working on piling, earthworks, services, and concrete works
• High level of problem-solving and decision-making ability
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and programs
• Commercial awareness with cost and productivity focus
• Proactive, organised, and able to work autonomously on site
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
• Full Australian working rights

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent experience)
• Current driver's licence and own vehicle
• Experience in civil construction projects (essential for this role)
