Sales Development Representative (SDR) - Channel Sales

THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a pure top-of-funnel SDR role focused on building and activating a channel sales network. The company sells through a network of trade professionals who act as trusted advisors, recommending and installing their product to end customers.
Two other sales channels are already performing well. This channel - the trade professional network - is the most important to scale, and that's where you come in.
You'll be reporting directly to the VP of Commercial & Customer, working alongside a small team of Territory Managers who handle the in-person relationship and training side. Your job is to find, qualify, and warm up the leads that feed them.
This is a genuine build opportunity. The processes, the pitch, the playbook - you'll help shape all of it.
THE MARKET OPPORTUNITY
Massive. There are thousands of trade businesses across New Zealand, and the company currently has 250 firms trained and in the network. The opportunity is to activate as many of those as possible - then grow the trained and activated number further. This is about building a quality pool of advocates who become passionate, long-term sellers of the product.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Day-to-day, this role is built around four core activities:
1. Outbound calling
Work through the CRM identifying and calling owner-operators. Target 15 calls per day. Your goal is to educate, handle objections, and get trade professionals excited enough to take the next step - whether that's attending a training session or making their first purchase.
2. Inbound qualification
Respond to trade professionals who have registered interest online (roughly one per day). Understand what brought them in, qualify their intent, and route them to the right next step.
3. Consumer lead follow-up
Support end customers who have submitted a request for quote online. Match them with an appropriate trade professional in the network and make sure the handoff is smooth.
4. Insights and reporting
Feed themes and learnings from your calls back into the business. Log accurately in the CRM and help the team understand what's working. Work closely with three Territory Managers in the field.
