Food Service Attendant - Renal Hostel
Location: Kununurra, WA | Classification: HSW Level 1 - 2
Commence Mid November 2026 - To Mid January 2027 (Possible extension)
We are seeking an organised, dependable Food Service Attendant to join the renal hostel team in Kununurra. You will assist with preparing and serving meals while keeping the kitchen, pantry and equipment clean, safe and hygienic.
About the role
Working under the direction of the cook and Renal Hostel Manager, you will:
- Assist with food preparation and cooking.
- Distribute and serve meals and drinks to hostel occupants and carers.
- Clean kitchen equipment, food preparation areas and the pantry.
- Collect and wash crockery, cutlery and utensils after meal service.
- Unpack deliveries and store perishable and non-perishable food safely.
- Follow the Food Safety Program, hygiene standards and waste disposal procedures.
- Work cooperatively with colleagues and communicate respectfully with occupants, carers and the public.
About you
You will bring:
- The ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Good organisation and time management skills.
- Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of food preparation and hygiene standards.
Food Safe training and experience working in a cross-cultural environment are desirable, along with knowledge of equal opportunity, disability services and workplace health and safety.
Appointment requirements
Appointment is subject to identity verification, criminal record screening, a pre-employment health assessment, a WA Health integrity check and a Working with Children Check.
