We're currently recruiting for an exciting FIFO opportunity with Rio Tinto.

Ballast Cleaner / Mechanical Fitter
�� FIFO from Perth
�� 8/6 roster | 12-hour shifts
⏳ Initial 6-month contract
�� $80–$85 per hour – depending on experience

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the team responsible for operating, repairing and maintaining the RM900 Ballast Cleaner and Spoil Wagon fleet across Rio Tinto's Pilbara rail network.

The role will involve:

• Operating, servicing and maintaining the RM900 Ballast Cleaner and Spoil Wagons.
• Mechanical maintenance on Caterpillar and Deutz engines.
• Hydraulic fault finding and component replacements.
• Pneumatic systems maintenance, including train brake systems.
• Conveyor belt building and installation.
• Wear liner replacements and light fabrication.
• Electrical diagnostics on 415/240V and 24V systems.
• PLC diagnostics and repairs.
• Working safely across Australia's largest privately owned rail network.

We're looking for people with:

• A strong mechanical background (essential).
• Experience working on Plasser track machinery (highly regarded).
• Rail maintenance experience and knowledge of rail operations.
• Strong commitment to safety.
• Current C Class Driver's Licence.
• HR Licence, Forklift Ticket and Working at Heights (desirable).
• Rail Infrastructure qualifications (desirable).
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
