We’re seeking experienced Light Vehicle Mechanics to join the maintenance workshop team for FIFO rosters in the Northwest. With a fleet of modern vehicles and equipment across high-output mine sites, this role offers a professional workshop environment, ongoing casual work, and industry-leading conditions.
  
About the Role
The Light Vehicle Fitter is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of light vehicles and mobile equipment used throughout the mining operation. The role ensures all fleet vehicles remain safe, reliable, and compliant with mining standards to support operational efficiency.
  
Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled servicing, mechanical repairs, and preventative maintenance on underground light vehicles (e.g., Toyota Land Cruisers, utes, service vehicles).
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults using diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
• Conduct pre-start inspections and maintain accurate service records within the site maintenance management system.
• Carry out breakdown repairs underground and on the surface in a safe and timely manner.
• Ensure all work complies with site safety standards, OEM specifications, and statutory regulations.
• Inspect and maintain ancillary equipment such as generators, compressors, lighting systems, and small mobile plant.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and reduce downtime.
• Assist with parts identification, ordering, and inventory management for workshop stock.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, contractors, and other maintenance personnel regarding vehicle status and required repairs.
• Contribute to a clean, safe, and environmentally compliant workshop and work area.

 Required skills and experience:

• Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent trade qualification).
• Demonstrated post-trade experience, ideally within mining, heavy industry, or remote operations.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Valid C-Class Manual Driver’s License.
• Ability to work safely in an underground mining environment and follow all site procedures.
• Proficiency with maintenance systems, work orders, and documentation.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
