Our client is seeking a passionate Aboriginality / Torres Strait Islander Traditional Owner Relationships Advisor to join their team.
This role sits within the Traditional Owner Relationships & Reconciliation team and involves regular travel across regional and remote locations in Western Australia to build and maintain respectful, long-term relationships with Traditional Owners.
Prioritizing face-to-face engagement, travel is a key aspect of this position.
You will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including Government departments, Land Councils, Prescribed Bodies Corporate (PBCs), and internal teams focused on sustainability, operations, future energy systems, and decarbonisation.
This is a permanent, full-time role based in Bentley, Perth. However, candidates located in regional offices such as Esperance, Carnarvon, Karratha, Port Hedland, Broome, and Kununurra are also encouraged to apply.
Your role will include:
- Implementing land negotiation frameworks and engagement plans specific to Traditional Owner relationships
- Delivering on Aboriginal Engagement Strategy objectives, including agreement-making and developing strategic partnerships
- Managing end-to-end Traditional Owner engagement activities (planning, coordination, scheduling, monitoring, etc.) and reporting across operational areas
- Developing and reviewing engagement materials including presentation slide decks, information papers, fact sheets, and other relevant collateral
You will have: - Aboriginality / Torres Strait Islander is a genuine requirement for this position under Section 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984
- Demonstrated experience in Aboriginal Affairs, Traditional Owner engagement, project management, or community-based roles
- Proven ability to liaise and negotiate with Aboriginal organisations, community groups, government bodies, and other stakeholders
- Strong influencing and collaboration skills to support change management initiatives
- A degree qualification or equivalent experience in project management, social sciences, community engagement, Native Title, Aboriginal Heritage, or a related field is highly desirable
