One Tech Engineering is searching for a Geologist Assistant for a position located in Bloomington, Minnesota. The Geologist Assistant will assist with a variety of environmental investigation and remediation-based projects for federal, state, local, and commercial clients.
The candidate must be a US Citizen or a green card holder, the position is not eligible for sponsorship. The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in Geology or related Environmental degree. Local candidates preferred or open to relocation. This is not a remote position.
Geologist Assistant Responsibilities:
Assist with field related activities including logging soils, air monitoring during investigation and remediation activities, installation of groundwater monitoring wells, collection of soil, groundwater and vapor samples for field screening and laboratory analysis, and collection of soil for physical testing.
Assist in evaluating soil and groundwater data, developing soil and groundwater sampling plans, data compilation for soil, air and groundwater analytical results.
Assist with proposal preparation, work plans and report writing for environmental based projects.
Assist in coordinating and scheduling subcontractors for field investigation activities and assisting with site remediation planning and implementation.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Complies with all policies and standards.
Requirements of theGeologist Assistant:
Bachelor's Degree in Geology or related Environmental degree.
A minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
Must have prior internship and/or related consulting experience.
Must have OSHA 40-hour Hazwoper training and current 8-hour refresher.
Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience performing environmental site investigations and remediation including site assessments, Phase I and Phase II, evaluation of CCR, PFAS and other pressing contaminants of concern.
Strong knowledge and understanding of contaminants of concern and the applicable analytical sampling requirements for site characterization.
Working knowledge in standard geological techniques, principles and procedures.
Basic knowledge of the Unified Soil Classification System. glacial deposits, hydrogeology and ground water sampling.
Basic knowledge of OSHA, CERCLA and remedial design.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
Basic knowledge in ArcGIS, RockWare, and Adobe Illustrator preferred.
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
Must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
