One Tech Engineering is searching for a Payroll Specialist for a position located in Appleton, Wisconsin. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing union payroll, preparing reports, handling government taxes, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the payroll team.

The candidate must be a US Citizen or a green card holder, the position is not eligible for sponsorship. The candidate should have a High school Diploma and at least 3 years of payroll experience.
  
Local candidates preferred or open to relocation. This is not a remote position.

Payroll Specialist Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with field management staff to collect union new hire paperwork.
• Ensure information is complete and accurate. Follow up on any issues or missing information.
• Create union employee record in ERP system, updating employment data or status changes. Ensure severance, termination, and disciplinary forms are reflected appropriately.
• Review field time entry reports for potential errors in hours, union, pay class, and per diem.
• Follow up with site teams and address as appropriate prior to payroll processing.
• Process weekly union payroll and off-cycle checks in a timely manner by importing time details and validating entries created.
• Confirm calculation of earnings, deductions, garnishments, union liabilities, and taxes.
• Ensure paychecks are distributed on time.
• Prepare monthly union remittances.
• Use system reports, calculate amounts and submit payment requests, ensuring reconciliation between liabilities accrued and payments.
• Match payments with labor details and remit to appropriate funds.
• Prepare reports, check for accuracy, and resolve discrepancies as part of business recordkeeping and compliance activities.
• Respond to and resolve any union employee payroll inquiries.
• Process employment verifications and unemployment claims by deadline outlined.
• Escalate unemployment hearing notices to Human Resources.
• Submit new hire reports to state agencies.
• Process child support and other court orders as necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.

• High school Diploma and at least 3 years of payroll experience.
• Must have the ability to use Excel to manipulate and analyze data.
• Must have excellent organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience processing construction payroll preferred.
• Experience with Oracle or other large software vendors preferred.
