The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional who thrives in a varied, high-impact role. Reporting to the CEO, the Compliance and Risk Management Officer will be responsible for supporting institutional compliance with relevant higher education legislation and frameworks, while managing operational and academic risk across the organisation. You will play a key part in regulatory readiness, quality assurance and policy governance.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Compliance and Quality Assurance: Interpret and advise on obligations under TEQSA, ESOS, and other legislative frameworks, manage the compliance calendar and support regulatory submissions, assist in internal and external audits and reviews, identify compliance gaps and oversee corrective actions
• Risk Management: Maintain and update the risk register, support risk assessment, mitigation, and reporting, monitor emerging risks and build risk awareness across the organisation
• Policy and Governance Support: Contribute to the review and implementation of institutional policies, provide secretariat support to governance committees, assist in the preparation of meeting papers and governance records
• Training and Awareness: Deliver compliance and risk-related training across the institution, promote a proactive culture of quality and continuous improvement

  
Skills and Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in law, education, governance, business, or related field (ideal although not essential)
• Strong understanding of TEQSA, ESOS, and HESF frameworks
• Experience in compliance, risk management, or policy development in a regulated setting
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and report writing skills
• High-level organisational and administrative skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems
