About the role

As Contact Service Worker you'll supervise and manage 2-hour contact visits between a parent and child referred by the Family Court, occurring weekly or fortnightly. These visits often involve families with complex needs and high-risk backgrounds, including domestic and family violence (DFV), mental health challenges, and drug & alcohol issues. You'll observe, assess, and intervene when necessary to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the child, while maintaining a neutral and professional stance.

What you'll do

• Provide a warm and professional intake experience for new families, including child orientation (e.g. initiating and sustaining play activities)
• Elicit, model and foster appropriate parenting behaviours and interactions between children (and young people) and their parents/carers
• Deliver parenting and child development education and support in away that is strengths-based, culturally sensitive and tailored to the individual needs of the families we support
• Support the wider casual pool on Saturdays and build your leadership skills, with opportunities to grow into a senior role over time

• Part time, permanent role
• Based at Blacktown Office
• Able to work a 4 day shift per week (Tuesday to Saturday)

What you'll bring

• Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline or working towards the same is desirable
• Strong understanding of child development, including age-appropriate activities
• Demonstrated experience supervising high-risk family interactions, particularly in the context of DFV, mental health, and substance use
• Awareness of the impacts of separation, conflict, and domestic violence on children and families
• Knowledge or training in neurodiversity and trauma-informed care (desirable)
• Strong administrative skills and high-level case note writing, ideally with trauma-informed practice
