Financial Controller - Based in Lae, Papua New Guinea 

Are you a seasoned Financial Controller looking to take on a new challenge? We are seeking an experienced individual to oversee the accounting functions and ensure the efficiency of our clients financial processes.   This role will play a key part in developing and implementing internal control policies and procedures, working closely with all functional and departmental managers to drive financial excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation of statutory and company reports.
• Manage annual returns, treasury functions, and finance process improvements.
• Develop and implement internal control policies and procedures.
• Ensure timely provision of financial information and reports to stakeholders.
• Drive cost ownership, stock control, and material usage analysis.
• Support managers in making sound financial decisions.
• Promote the use of data analysis tools among managers.

This role will have 10 direct reports that will consist of:

• Credit Controller
• Payroll Manager
• Accounts Payable Officers
• Customer Billing Supervisors

Qualifications

• Qualified CA, CPA, or CMA.
• Advanced degree in Accounting.
• 10+ years of combined accounting and finance experience.
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software.
• Excellent collaboration, leadership, and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and the ability to pick up on errors.
• High level of cultural intelligence and ability to work in a diverse environment.

Desirable Experience:

• Internal audit experience.
• Familiarity with financial complexities in large manufacturing sectors.
• Experience working in a developing country.

Competencies:

• Strong PC literacy, particularly in spreadsheets and database management.
• High level of collaboration and influencing skills at senior company levels.
• Excellent user and administration skills for accounting software.
• High experience in creating financial statements.
