Commercial Finance Manager – Honiara, Solomon Islands | Senior Finance Leadership | Attractive Expatriate Package
An established organisation is seeking an experienced Commercial Finance Manager to join its operations in Honiara, Solomon Islands. This is a hands-on finance leadership position suited to an experienced Financial Controller, Finance Manager or Commercial Finance Manager who combines strong technical finance capability with sound commercial judgement and the ability to work closely with operational leadership.
Reporting to the Finance Director and partnering closely with the General Manager, you will oversee the local finance function, strengthen financial controls and working capital management, and provide timely financial and commercial insight to support business decisions.
The Role Key responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the day-to-day finance function and leading a small local finance team
- Ensuring strong financial controls, accurate accounting and reliable financial reporting
- Managing budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, treasury and working capital
- Driving effective debtor, credit and collection management
- Preparing management reports and providing meaningful analysis and recommendations
- Supporting the General Manager with financial modelling, costing and scenario analysis
- Monitoring profitability, gross margins, pricing and business performance
- Partnering with Sales and Operations to improve financial and commercial outcomes
- Reviewing processes and implementing improvements to strengthen efficiency and control
- Supporting statutory, tax, audit and compliance requirements
- Developing, mentoring and building the capability of the local finance team
About You We are looking for a practical, commercially aware finance professional who is comfortable being hands-on and taking ownership.
Ideally, you will bring:
- Approximately 8–10+ years' relevant finance experience
- Experience at Financial Controller, Finance Manager, Commercial Finance Manager or similar level
- A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- CA, CPA, CMA or equivalent professional qualification highly regarded
- Strong financial accounting, management reporting, budgeting and forecasting experience
- Demonstrated experience in working capital, credit control and debtor management
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to undertake financial modelling and scenario analysis
- Experience leading and developing a finance team
- The confidence to challenge, influence and work effectively with senior operational stakeholders
- A pragmatic, adaptable and solutions-focused approach
Experience within FMCG, consumer goods, trading or distribution would be advantageous. Previous experience working within the Pacific Islands, PNG or another developing/emerging market would also be highly regarded.
