Nambawan Super Limited is Papua New Guinea's largest superannuation fund, entrusted with protecting and growing the retirement savings of hundreds of thousands of members. As the Fund continues to strengthen its governance, investment capability and member experience, an opportunity now exists for an outstanding leader to join the Board as a Non-Executive Director.
This appointment offers the opportunity to contribute to one of Papua New Guinea's most respected financial institutions, helping shape strategic decisions that will influence the long-term financial wellbeing of members and the future direction of the organisation.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Board Chair, you will work alongside an experienced Board providing independent oversight, strategic guidance and sound governance across the organisation.
The Board is seeking an individual who can contribute fresh perspectives while supporting the Fund's strategic priorities, including:
- Strengthening governance, risk management and regulatory compliance.
- Help identify new investment opportunities within Papua New Guinea and beyond.
- Delivering strong long-term investment outcomes for members.
- Supporting digital transformation and innovation.
- Enhancing member experience and service delivery.
While previous Board experience is highly regarded, applications are also encouraged from accomplished senior executives seeking their first Non-Executive Director appointment.
About You You are a respected Papua New Guinea business leader with demonstrated executive leadership experience and a reputation for sound judgement, integrity and commercial acumen.
Experience in one or more of the following areas will be highly regarded:
- Corporate governance
- Commercial or strategic leadership
- Digital transformation or technology leadership
- Superannuation, Investment management or funds management
- Banking or financial services
- Enterprise risk management
You will possess strong stakeholder engagement skills, the confidence to constructively challenge management where appropriate and a genuine commitment to acting in the best interests of members.

Essential Requirements Applicants should demonstrate:
- Ability to satisfy the Bank of Papua New Guinea's Fit & Proper requirements.
- Residency in Papua New Guinea.
- Significant senior executive leadership experience.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (MBA or postgraduate qualifications highly regarded).
- Capacity to commit the time required for Board and Committee responsibilities.
Time Commitment Directors are appointed for an initial three-year term and participate in approximately four Board meetings annually together with Board Committee meetings. The role requires appropriate preparation and attendance throughout the year and offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to one of Papua New Guinea's leading institutions.
