Management Accountant

Location: Papua New Guinea Port Moresby 

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and commercially minded Management Accountant to join a well-established and growing business within the manufacturing/FMCG sector in Papua New Guinea.

This is a hands-on role suited to a finance professional who enjoys working closely with operations while driving strong financial performance, controls, and reporting across the business.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting business growth through financial management, budgeting and forecasting, manufacturing costing analysis, inventory control, and commercial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting

• Lead and manage the finance and accounting function.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.
• Monitor financial performance against budgets and business targets.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Prepare rolling forecasts and cash flow projections.
• Analyse variances and support cost control initiatives.
• Partner with operational departments to improve financial planning.

Manufacturing Costing & Inventory Control

• Oversee product costing, standard costing, and cost analysis.
• Monitor manufacturing costs, raw material usage, wastage, and production efficiency.
• Ensure accurate inventory valuation and stock reconciliation.
• Support pricing decisions and profitability analysis.

Treasury & Cash Flow Management

• Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity requirements.
• Oversee banking facilities, loans, and financing arrangements.
• Manage payment planning and foreign currency transactions.

Internal Controls & Compliance

• Maintain strong internal controls and financial policies.
• Ensure compliance with tax, statutory, audit, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate internal and external audits.
• Support financial risk management initiatives.

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead and mentor finance and accounting staff.
• Drive accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
• Support staff development and performance management.

Skills & Experience Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline.
• CPA or ACCA qualification preferred but not essential.
• Minimum 5 years’ finance/accounting experience, ideally within manufacturing or FMCG industries.
• Experience with ERP systems and financial software.
• Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing costing and inventory management.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and operational environment.
