Financial Controller – Business Unit Reporting Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Financial Controller to join a leading financial organisation in Papua New Guinea.
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, this senior leadership position is responsible for overseeing the financial reporting, statutory compliance and financial stewardship of a key business unit.
This is a strategic role that combines hands-on financial control with commercial business partnering, providing the opportunity to influence executive decision-making while leading a high-performing finance function.
Key Responsibilities You will be responsible for:
Leading the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
Maintaining the integrity of the General Ledger and balance sheet reconciliations.
Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and local statutory requirements.
Producing insightful Board reports, financial commentary and management reporting.
Managing external audits and coordinating statutory reporting requirements.
Overseeing all taxation matters, including tax compliance, reporting and liaison with tax authorities.
Ensuring compliance with all relevant financial and regulatory requirements.
Supporting budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and performance analysis.
Providing commercial insights and partnering with business leaders to drive informed decision-making.
Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, systems and reporting efficiencies.
Leading, mentoring and developing the finance team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
About You To be successful in this role, you will bring:
CPA or CA qualification.
Extensive experience in financial control, statutory reporting and financial management.
Strong knowledge of IFRS and corporate taxation.
Proven experience managing audits and regulatory compliance.
Advanced financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting skills.
Experience preparing Board and Executive reporting.
Strong leadership capability with experience developing finance teams.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
A continuous improvement mindset with experience driving finance transformation and process improvement.
ERP systems experience and strong financial systems knowledge.
