Financial Controller Location: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea A confidential opportunity is available for an experienced Financial Controller to join a leading financial services organisation headquartered in Port Moresby.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this is a key leadership position responsible for the organisation's financial control, statutory reporting, regulatory compliance and financial governance. Beyond maintaining a robust control environment, the successful candidate will play an important role in improving finance processes, strengthening reporting capability, enhancing systems and developing a high-performing finance team.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of accurate and timely statutory, regulatory and management financial reporting.
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial close processes.
- Manage multi-entity consolidations and ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Maintain a strong financial control framework and ensure the integrity of the general ledger.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to provide meaningful financial analysis and commercial insights.
- Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, reporting frameworks and operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to leverage technology and automation to improve reporting quality and reduce manual processes.
- Coordinate external audits and maintain strong relationships with regulators and professional advisers.
- Lead, mentor and develop the finance team while fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
About You You are a technically accomplished Financial Controller who combines strong accounting expertise with commercial judgement, leadership maturity and a proactive approach to improving finance operations.

To be successful you will possess:
- Chartered Accountant (CA, ACA or equivalent) qualification, ideally from the big four.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in financial control, financial reporting or technical accounting within banking or financial services.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, statutory reporting and regulatory compliance.
- Experience managing complex consolidations across multiple entities.
- Strong understanding of financial governance, internal controls and audit requirements.
- Demonstrated experience improving finance processes, reporting frameworks or financial systems.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- A collaborative leadership style with proven experience developing high-performing finance teams.
