Butchers / Meat Cutters – Expat Opportunity in Papua New Guinea Are you an experienced butcher looking for something different?

We are seeking skilled Butchers / Meat Cutters for an exciting expatriate opportunity in Papua New Guinea. This is a hands-on role working inside a busy butcher’s store, preparing quality meat products for retail customers and helping develop local skills in the butchery trade.

This opportunity would suit experienced butchers from Poland who are open to an overseas adventure, enjoy practical work, and are confident working with beef, pork and other meat products.

About the Role You will be responsible for preparing and cutting meat for retail sale, including breaking down carcasses, preparing primal and secondary cuts, trimming, portioning, mincing, and presenting meat products to a high standard.

You will also play an important role in supporting and training local team members, sharing your knowledge of quality meat preparation, safe handling, hygiene, and good butchery practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Cutting, trimming and preparing beef, pork and other meat products
• Breaking down carcasses and preparing retail-ready cuts
• Operating knives, saws, grinders and other butchery equipment safely
• Maintaining strong hygiene, food safety and workplace standards
• Preparing meat displays and ensuring products are presented professionally
• Supporting stock control, rotation and waste reduction
• Helping train and develop local staff in butchery skills

What We Are Looking For

• Ideally 5+ years’ experience as a butcher or meat cutter
• Formal butchery, meat processing or food preparation qualification preferred
• Strong practical knowledge of meat cuts and carcass breakdown
• Experience working in a retail butcher, supermarket meat department or meat processing environment
• Basic English communication skills required
• You do not need to be fluent in English, but you must be able to understand workplace instructions and communicate in basic written and spoken English
• Reliable, hardworking and open to living and working overseas
• Willingness to support and mentor local team members
