Group Financial Controller – FP&A Senior Leadership | Insurance / Financial Services | Port Moresby (PNG)
An opportunity exists for an accomplished Group Financial Controller – FP&A to step into a senior leadership role within a complex, multi-entity financial services group operating across the Pacific region.
This is a high-impact, Deputy-CFO–style role, suited to a commercially minded finance leader who thrives in environments requiring strong financial control, forward-looking insight, and strategic influence at Executive level.
The Opportunity Reporting directly to the Group CFO, you will be the central figure responsible for group-wide financial planning, consolidation, performance reporting, and strategic financial insight across multiple operating entities.
You will play a critical role in shaping financial discipline, transparency, and decision-making across the Group, moving beyond reporting to become a trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team.
This role suits someone who enjoys complexity, leadership, and influence, and who can operate confidently across strategy, operations, and governance.
Key Responsibilities Group FP&A & Commercial Insight
- Lead the Group’s annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes
- Consolidate subsidiary plans, challenge assumptions, and ensure alignment with strategic and capital objectives
- Deliver insightful variance analysis and forward-looking commentary to senior leadership
Financial Control, Consolidation & Reporting - Own the preparation and integrity of consolidated Group financial statements and Annual Report (IFRS)
- Lead group consolidation processes, including intercompany eliminations
- Act as key liaison with external auditors and support reinsurance financial oversight
Management Reporting & Shareholder Engagement - Deliver high-quality Group management packs (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, key insurance metrics)
- Provide deep-dive performance analysis across products, portfolios, and business units
- Manage shareholder and investor financial reporting and communications
Strategic Initiatives & M&A - Lead financial modelling, evaluation, due diligence, and integration for M&A and strategic investments
- Support capital management, scenario analysis, and regulatory capital considerations
- Act as a financial advisor on major strategic initiatives and special projects
Investment Portfolio Oversight - Monitor and analyse the Group’s investment portfolio
- Integrate investment performance into Group financial planning and reporting
Finance Transformation & Systems - Lead finance transformation initiatives to improve efficiency, consistency, and insight
- Drive process standardisation and optimisation across planning, reporting, and consolidation
- Support the selection and implementation of ERP, EPM, and BI systems
Leadership & Capability Building - Lead and mentor the Group FP&A function
- Develop a high-performing team recognised as a trusted business partner
About You - Strong FP&A, consolidation, and group reporting experience
- Exposure to complex, multi-entity environments (insurance highly regarded)
- A commercial mindset with the ability to translate data into insight and action
- Proven leadership capability and executive presence
- Confidence operating at Board and shareholder level
- Experience in Insurance, FMCG, manufacturing, or other complex financial services environments will be highly regarded.
