Location: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea

The Head of Risk & Governance is essential in overseeing the development, implementation, and improvement of Risk Management and Compliance Frameworks across our client’s company operations. The successful candidate will ensure regulatory adherence, foster a culture of risk awareness, and provide strategic guidance on risk mitigation and management.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement an Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework in line with regulatory requirements and best practices.
• Support the Board in defining risk appetite and tolerance levels.
  Develop and maintain policies to guide decision-making and ensure compliance.
• Lead risk identification, assessment, and mitigation strategies across business units.
• Manage accurate, timely reporting to support decision-making, including quarterly Board reports.
• Ensure adherence to regulations, industry standards, and internal policies.
  Lead periodic compliance reviews to verify alignment with governance and risk standards.
• Foster a strong risk-aware culture and integrate governance into business planning.
• Lead the governance and risk management team, promoting development and high performance.

Qualifications and Skills: 

• Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Legal, or a related field. Professional certifications in Risk and Governance are highly desirable.
• Minimum of 5 years in financial services within governance, risk management, compliance, or advisory roles, with a track record in governance structures and risk frameworks.
• Strong leadership and communication, analytical and problem-solving abilities, understanding of commercial impacts of regulatory compliance, and a proactive, hands-on approach.
