Head of Human Resources – Papua New Guinea
Are you a dynamic HR leader ready to drive strategic transformation in a complex, fast-paced environment? We are seeking an experienced Head of Human Resources to lead the HR function for a respected organization in Papua New Guinea, overseeing the full spectrum of HR operations and championing cultural and organizational excellence.
About the Role
As the Head of Human Resources, you will partner with the executive leadership team to shape and deliver people strategies that drive business success. You will lead a dedicated HR team, manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle, and create a workplace culture rooted in high performance, inclusion, and engagement.
Your remit will include talent acquisition and development, workforce planning, employee relations, organizational development, HR compliance, and the design and execution of a compelling employee value proposition. You will play a critical role in supporting strategic change initiatives and positioning the organisation as an employer of choice in the region.
Key Responsibilities - Develop and execute HR strategies that align with business objectives and support transformation and growth.
- Lead and develop the HR team, fostering a culture of excellence, trust, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee talent management processes, including recruitment, succession planning, leadership development, and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with local employment laws and manage employee relations with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
- Drive initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Board and senior leadership, providing strategic insights and updates on key people metrics and risks.
- Implement organizational development and change management initiatives to build capability and employee engagement.
- Build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships to enhance HR effectiveness and employer brand positioning.
About You - Degree-qualified in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
- Significant leadership experience in human resources, preferably in a complex or corporate environment.
- Deep understanding of local employment law and HR best practices in Papua New Guinea.
- Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
- Strong strategic thinking capability coupled with hands-on operational excellence.
- A passion for building positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace cultures.
- High integrity, sound judgment, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Ability to drive business outcomes through innovative people strategies.
